Welcome to our Little Hollow, where we turn our passion for experimenting and creating into unique items for you to enjoy.

Allow me to introduce you to our crew. My name is Logan Merrill, and I am the overly technical, detail oriented perfectionist that designs and makes our products. My amazing wife, Em, is the behind the scenes support that makes everything possible. Photos, videos, social media posts and interactions, and even polishing in many cases can be credited to her! Rounding out our team, and providing the bottomless energy and excitement, we have our two girls, Melody and Ryleigh. They can often be found spectating as we work, picking out new blanks and colors, building towers with the wood and resin pieces in the shop, and generally brightening up the shop with their magnet tile creations and chalk colored floors!

We got started in 2022 with kit pens, as a fun break from sitting at the desk. From there we were introduced to the possibilities available with all of the different materials, and realized that the kits were too limited for some of the projects we wanted to try, so we made our first “kitless” fountain pen in the last few months of 2023. Once we made the first one, there was no going back! 2024 was the start of our focus on making pens without any kits, enabling us to have more creative freedom in our materials and designs. We got to setup at our first pen show, meet some of the amazing people in the fountain pen community, and really get excited about all of the possibilities!

Fast forward to present day, and we are continuously working to improve our products, building capability through practice, upgrading equipment, and loving every second of the process!

I am not a traditionalist. I firmly believe that there will always be a place for every technique and craft, and the best way to progress is to explore the options of combining time tested skills and techniques with modern technology to highlight the best features of both.

We use all of the tools available to us in our endeavors to improve our products, from hand turning and polishing on a wood lathe, to manual machining and ELS (Electronic Lead Screw) control on a metal lathe. We also use 3D printing, laser engraving, and other processes, all depending on the project!

Little Hollow Customs is a creative outlet and passion project that allows us to teach our girls about the joys of creating something new, and being part of a supportive and encouraging community. One of the best parts of that is being able to share the results of each project, getting to hear your stories, and being a part of creating new ones, so we would love to have you follow along with us on this adventure!
